British Values

The British Government defined the concept of ‘British Values’ in its 2011 Prevent Strategy, and since 2014, the Department for Education has mandated that all schools promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

At Eldon Primary School, we take pride in embodying these values within our educational framework. As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, Eldon Primary School integrates the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into its ethos and culture. The principles outlined in the UNCRC resonate with the British Values defined by the Department for Education, reinforcing our commitment to fostering an environment of respect and understanding.

Our school community is wonderfully diverse, welcoming and valuing every individual, regardless of their ability, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, or background. We recognise the vital role we play in combating discrimination and promoting fairness, justice, and equality through our teaching practices and the role models we provide.
