Design and Technology
Our DT curriculum prepares children to take part in the development of tomorrow’s rapidly changing world. Creative thinking encourages children to make positive changes to their quality of life by becoming autonomous and inventive problem solvers, both as individuals and as part of a team. For related guidance, see Reception.
We seek to ensure that children:
- Pupils look at existing products and identify aspects which can be copied, modified or extended.
- Pupils design and make products with real purposes showcasing deepening levels of skill.
- Pupils practice skills in a variety of disciplines including mechanical systems, building structures, textiles, computing, electrical systems as well as food and nutrition, where children plan, plant, nurture and harvest own produce.
