School Meals
At Eldon Primary School, our in‑house catering team prepares a wide range of hot and cold meals each day. All dishes are freshly made, nutritionally balanced, and fully compliant with national school food standards.
All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals. This is not linked to household income, and we strongly encourage all KS1 families to take advantage of this offer. Enjoying a school meal helps children develop healthy eating habits, try new foods, and build confidence in social situations.
When children move into Key Stage 2, they can continue with school meals on a paid basis or choose our flexible option, allowing them to have a school lunch on selected days each week. Meal choices are uploaded weekly to our secure online payment system, where parents and carers can pay weekly or monthly. Eldon Primary School operates as a cash‑free school. Children may also bring a packed lunch from home if that is their preference.
We are committed to offering excellent value for money by sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers wherever possible. Our meal prices are regularly reviewed and compared with Local Authority guidance and neighbouring schools.
Free School Meal Eligibility
If you believe your child may qualify for means‑tested Free School Meals, please contact the school office as soon as possible. Staff can provide guidance, answer questions, and supply the necessary application form.
Even if your child is currently receiving a meal through the KS1 Universal Free School Meals scheme, it is still important to apply for means‑tested Free School Meals if you think you may be eligible. This ensures your child receives all the additional support linked to the entitlement.
For full details about eligibility and how to apply, please visit the Lancashire County Council website.
